Gender Pay Gap & Equal Pay
How can design be used as a tool to represent marginalised or under represented subject?
Gender Pay Gap and Equal Pay are often mentioned within our society however not much action is taken to understand or educate the subject. We’re surrounded by access to several articles and news platforms however the vast majority tend to avoid or have a ‘quick read’ due to the lack of knowledgeability and poor visual representation of the content.
Inspired by the bold movements and shapes of Sister Corita’s work, I designed just two shapes which were scaled differently and repeated throughout to ensure that the design didn't become the protagonist of the book. The gender stereotypical colours of ‘blue and pink’ were used to create an obvious devision however by overlaying the shapes with a low capacity, it created subtle designs and new shades which I believe represents the new changes and mending
of roles.
